No Speed Limit On Most Iowa County Roads

DES MOINES AP Most of Iowa secondary roads have no enforceable speed limits since the 1959 legislature. Chief David Herrick says few counties posted required signs to make limits effective. Law set 60 mph day and 50 mph night. boards must post signs for limits to apply. Authorities warn many roads remain “reasonable and proper” unsanctioned limits.
