Advent services canceled amid subfreezing Cedar Rapids weather
Dozens of church services and activities were canceled across Cedar Rapids on Sunday as subfreezing temperatures and blowing snow made travel risky. Christ Episcopal Church postponed a 10:30 children's program and canceled 8 am services. Bethlehem Cave gathering was also nixed. Christ Church Presbyterian canceled all services and the children's program, with plans to reschedule only the program. Church officials stressed safety for older members and traveling children from outlying towns.
