In Kentucky, Microwaving Flooded Tax Records
Revenue Commissioner Maurice Carpenter describes an emergency method to salvage water logged inheritance sales and income tax files by microwaving them. The first batch was overcooked but demonstrated feasibility, leading to purchase of ten microwaves at about $200 each for the department’s salvage operation.
