Benton Returns to Mural Work at 82 in Missouri
Thomas Hart Benton, age 82, has contracted for his first mural in a decade, a 14 by 52 foot piece to celebrate Joplin's centennial. The work will depict mining era scenes near Joplin Missouri and be unveiled at the municipal building in spring 1973. Benton plans to paint it at his studio and recalls his early artistic influences.
