Greene county tags tied to a vessel found in a company parking lot triggered an investigation. The coast guard cutter Durable escorted the shrimper toward Port Isabel with the captain, a second crew member, three children, and two deceased men aboard. The ship reportedly left Freeport on the upper Texas coast, possibly Saturday or Sunday, and was missing from its berth by Sunday. Only Penland and Thelbert Johnson had signed aboard. Johnson appeared at the company office Tuesday. A spokesman noted two cars with Iowa and California plates in the parking lot and an empty box likely containing shotgun shells. The coast guard expected Mr. Tucker to reach Port Isabel by late Tuesday and said FBI agents would meet him.

The Cedar Rapids council delays action on annexing a 38.7 acre tract north of E Avenue NW to address storm runoff from proposed single family homes. Public Works Director Jensen cites a $4,000 detention basin as costly with limited long term value, while considering cheaper options around $1,000.
Edmund Boatty of route one Cedar Rapids was appointed by the county board of supervisors to the Linn County zoning board of adjustment. He replaces Julian Hupp who resigned while out of state. The term runs until December 31 1975. The board handles special permits and variances from zoning rules.

The county budget allocates 650 000 dollars for ADC with 623 000 spent through November delving into cost efficiency.
Herman W. Thompson, 35, of 1633 Chestnut Road NE, arrested on a court order to serve 16 days in Linn County jail for willful failure to pay child support. Judge Osmundson gave until Dec 10 to pay 500 dollars. Thompson's income dropped from 17,000 to 10,000 annually but he should pay 300 a month. A separate contempt claim against Thompson’s former wife over visitation rights was postponed.
