Cedar Rapids City Council granted initial rezoning approval for a 9,022 square foot Kwik Trip at 251 33rd Ave SW converting 2.5 acres from light industrial to commercial. The plan includes a car wash and diesel-focused fueling station. The vote was unanimous and two additional votes are required to finalize.

Kalona woman dies after Riverside apartment fire
Tracy L. Williams, 52, of Kalona, died after a Riverside apartment fire at 40 W. First St. on Monday night. Two others were hospitalized, a firefighter was injured, and the cause is under investigation. Fire units from Riverside, Kalona, Ainsworth, Lone Tree, and Hills responded.
