I'm OK program aids Cedar Rapids seniors and shut-ins
A new safety initiative named I'm OK was launched in Cedar Rapids to help seniors and shut-ins. Paramount Pharmacies print bright yellow signs bearing I'm OK for daily checks by neighbors from 6 to 10 pm, with agreed response if the sign fails to appear. Co-sponsored by the mayor's office and WMT Stations, the program is part of Paramount's Secure Awareness From Education effort.

Snowmobile Registration Urged Before Year End
Linn Recorder E F Kane urges snowmobile owners to renew registrations by January 1 to avoid a penalty. The $6.50 yearly fee carries a $1 penalty per six months after the deadline. The courthouse will be closed Friday afternoons this week and next and next Monday for holidays. Fewer than half of about 3 000 snowmobiles have been renewed.
