Atlas Delays Yuletide Message From Space Mission

Atlas engineers plan to retrigger the 4 ton satellite to broadcast a prerecorded Christmas message from President Eisenhower after gathering enough data. The first broadcast proved garbled but did not ruin the message as Atlas rebroadcast the president’s remarks from Cape Canaveral at 17 000 mph.

Loveless Addresses Youth Conference On Crime Prevention

Gov. Herschel C. Loveless urged prevention over rehabilitation in a Cedar Rapids Youth Conference at Regis High School. He spoke of addressing delinquency causes and creating a healthy environment, noting rising juvenile crime and that one in 15 families is affected. About 135 attended from several cities with sponsors from the Cedar Rapids Department of Public Safety Youth Commission.
