Cedar Rapids Carmike theaters near closing for good
Sixteen months after Carmike Cinemas began closing Cedar Rapids venues the empty Westdale 4 Collins Road 5 Lindale and Stage 4 theaters may become night clubs restaurants or retail spaces. Reopening as theaters is unlikely with few prospects though Stage 4 could still be used for cinema. Some spaces have been repurposed such as Westroad 6 reopened as Vieux Carre a dance club. Landlords note high adaptation costs due to sloped floors and large single-tenant space, while churches rarely pursue these sites.
