City pays 46000 to detained family in Iowa case

Des Moines Fire Kills Two Children in Mobile Home
A Des Moines mobile home fire on Sunday night killed five month old Amber Gibbons and three year old Shane Gibbons. The mother was treated for burns and released, a neighbor for smoke inhalation. Police say arson is not suspected and investigators probe the living room blaze.

Iowa Hikes Six Figure Salaries for State Workers
Iowa's payroll shows 1417 workers earning more than $100,000 in the year ending June 30, up 20 percent. Top earners include Iowa State coach Larry Eustachy at 640,176 and University of Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz at 541,733. About two thirds of six figure salaries are at UI, with 858 such employees, while ISU has 342 and UNI 38.
