Washable fabrics rise in popularity for children's clothing

University of Illinois expert Miss Rita Whitesel says 100 percent synthetic fabrics and blends with wool or cotton wash easily in modern machines. Nylon tweeds and ginghams compete with wool and cotton. printed nylons replace cotton prints in dainty blouses. Acrilan, Dacron, nylon blends with wool, worsted, and cotton are common. silk and cotton mixes also wash well. Read labels and keep them on gifts to ensure proper care.
