Iowa university backs solar powered vehicle to grid project

Energy engineer Eric Foresman says the UI project fits the Reinvestment Act. Iowa awarded a 250000 technology demonstration grant. UI remains about 390000 short of the 1.28 million needed. The plan, designed with OPN Architects, would span 180 feet and deliver 57 kilowatts, charging up to 47 plug-in vehicles and potentially returning power to the grid. Vehicle to grid capability would let batteries feed energy back during blackouts for study and demonstration purposes.
