A large fire that began Tuesday near the former slaughterhouse in the Sinclair plant site may accelerate demolition plans. Eddy Rapids city flood recovery director Greg Eyerly said officials have asked FEMA for funding to aid the demolition and cleanup as part of ongoing recovery efforts.
Air pollution from the blaze worries residents as firefighters let the Sinclair site burn. Officials say the buildings pose an imminent health threat and could collapse.
