Icy Iowa toll rises as nine die in weekend crashes
Nine people died in Iowa traffic crashes this weekend raising the year total to 643. Victims include Laura Johnson 80 and Janice Monaghan 14 of Keota along with Lindenwood College students Karen Hollett 21 and Nicole Johnson 21 of Sioux City. Others hailed from Mingo Cedar and Diagonal.

Paralyzed Iowa man James Wilson dies at 37
Special to The Gazette. James Wilson, 37, who operated a chain saw service from a wheelchair, died Saturday. He broke his back in a 17 year old silo accident and remained paralyzed since. Survivors include his mother Martha and three sisters. Services Tuesday at 1 30 p.m. in Witt funeral home and 2 p.m. in the Congregational church.
