Coralville Woman Accused Of Encouraging Death By Own Action

A Coralville resident, Jennifer Marie Williams, 48, faces up to 10 years after authorities say she urged a 38 year old Olin woman to kill herself in 2021. Investigators describe private Snapchat exchanges seeking to ensure the death was carried out and funeral plans.

Unusual charge filed in case of death by own action

Investigators said there were no messages telling the woman not to kill herself. Surveillance showed Williams arriving at the home at 4 27 a.m. She stayed in her car until 9 a.m. when she went inside and called 911. A Jones County official said the “assisting death by own action” charge is uncommon and not previously filed in the counties involved. Williams, arrested Dec 3, is held on 10 000 bail.
