South Side Bakery and its Java of Cedar Rapids history
A Polish Czech era bakery on 1110 Third St SE evolved through owners Jakoubek and Kosek, blending brick oven baking with living quarters. Jakoubek, master baker, ran the South Side Bakery 1913 1956, surviving as brick oven era ended. The flood 2008 reshaped the block, leading to NewBo City Market opening 2012 where Rustic Hearth remains.
