Casinos join suit to keep audits secret in Iowa
A coalition of 16 of 19 state regulated Iowa casinos filed in Polk County Court to block annual audits from public release. They say the financial reports to regulators are trade secrets and have no public purpose, seeking a permanent injunction while citing gambling taxes and charity grants tied to the sector. Randy Evans of the Iowa Freedom of Information Council warns that secrecy harms the public, with broader battles over access to information in education and public records ongoing.
