Four Killed in C-82 Crash Near Greenville
Four air force flyers died and three were injured when a C-82 Flying Boxcar crashed into an embankment near Greenville South Carolina. The troop carrier plowed into a road embankment then stopped in a field after tearing across the highway. Base crash squads contained a small fire.

Doctor Rutledge Recovers, Interrogates On Wife Fight
Dr Robert Rutledge, 27, a pediatrician, is charged with first degree murder in the Hartman case. He told Cedar Rapids and St Louis police he fought Hartman last Tuesday in Hartman's room at the Roosevelt hotel in Cedar Rapids but denied stabbing him. He collapsed en route to the station after becoming ill from a sleeping potion, later awakening and describing the fatal fight.
