Lawmaker sees limited chance for cigarette tax hike in election year
Iowa lawmaker Rep. John Forbes and Iowa Department of Public Health Director Gerd Clabaugh discussed a proposed $1.50 per pack cigarette tax hike on Iowa Press. The plan would fund health, tobacco cessation, medical cannabis and opioid abuse programs, but Forbes doubts a tax increase will pass in 2018.
