The Iowa School Report Card released Wednesday keeps most Cedar Rapids schools in the lower half of the six tier system. The accountability ratings rely mainly on statewide test scores and classroom performance across districts.
The Iowa School Report Card 2017 places Cedar Rapids district schools across exceptional, high performing, commendable, acceptable, needs improvement, or priority categories. Seven Cedar Rapids schools improved from last year while six declined. Since 2015 no Gazette graphic school in Cedar Rapids district has reached the top two tiers. Report, page 9A.

The defunct Christian based BLinC sues the University of Iowa alleging discrimination after a member alleged bias for being gay. The suit claims denial of a leadership post stemmed from religious beliefs not sexual orientation. University officials say they do not tolerate discrimination and followed investigations before deregistration.
