Improvement projects strain Marion engineers under new plan
Marion's 1980 capital improvement program lists 22 projects totaling about 1.15 million dollars, with seven designed by consultants. City Engineer Larry Asaro said design time ends by March or April, then inspections begin, as the department faces staff shortages and heavy workload plus new subdivisions and cable TV inspections. Funding may come from federal revenue sharing, road funds, sewer revenue, and general obligation bonds possibly up to 430 thousand dollars. The council will review the plan again next week.

Linn-Mar High School Christmas Concert Set
The Linn-Mar Community High School instrumental music department hosts a free public Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m. in the school auditorium. The concert band performs Season's Greetings The Christmas Song and A Christmas Ballet, the symphonic band plays Columns and Arches Jubiloso and Canticle of Carols, Jazz Band II performs Aquarius Let the Sun Shine In Ain't Misbehavin and Axe of the Apostle, and Jazz Band I presents Send in the Clones and Something for Shelly. Directors Pam Houser and Steve Colton lead the ensembles.
