A 221 to 145 vote sustained the appropriations committee action to include the federal furlough pay cut in the post office treasury bill. The measure was approved to prevent challenging the propriety of the pay cut provision within the bill.

Whitney called the carrier idea inconsistent with the workers request for the conference. Officials recessed to prepare a reply and will reconvene at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

They urged using pupil teacher ratio based on daily attendance and number of teachers. The panel praised the state fish and game commission for economical administration and progress in propagation and protection of fish and game.
A United Air Lines aircraft was forced to land near Council Bluffs. The plane overturned in a creek bed and burned, destroying nearly all 400 pounds of mail cargo. pilot FE B Jepperson was dazed with a cut above the eye but saved one mail sack. No passengers aboard.

The former ruler was not greatly disturbed and viewed Fuebker as mentally unbalanced.
