No-bid Iowa university contracts tie GOP insiders

Records show $321,900 in no-bid contracts awarded to Matt Strawn’s consulting firm by the University of Iowa. Strawn’s company subcontracted GOP-linked firms and the university used a noncompetitive process for a spring 2013 online and grassroots advocacy project valued at 24,900 dollars. The project included statewide polling funding, with parts subcontracted to Wholecrowd led by Jim Anderson. Officials defend secrecy as a unique service while critics call it a sweetheart deal amid GOP ties.
