She opened Marion first beauty shop in 1921, owned Century Cab Co since 1944 and served as state cosmetology inspector in 1938. She was active in politics and local clubs. Floyd J Novak of 1615 Eleventh Street NW died Friday after a prolonged illness. Born April 3, 1906 in Elberon, he lived in Cedar Rapids since 19[12?] and retired from Iowa Steel and Iron Works. A World War II veteran, he belonged to the James R Kalina American Legion post, Iron Workers Union No. 89, and Asbury United Methodist Church. Survived by his wife Blanch Story, married June 29, 1937, at Nashua, and his parents. Memorial services in Belle Plaine with burial at a National cemetery near Vining. Military honors by the Kalina post.
