Washington demands Romania withdraw two diplomats Grigore Proteasa and Alexandru Lazareanu after Bucharest orders two Americans and two Britons expelled amid espionage accusations. The U S rejects Romania's charges as ridiculous and unfounded.
Romania demanded the recall of two American and two British diplomats Henry P. Leverich Col John R Lovell Charles Robinson and William Watson in notes to the legations. The move followed a Romanian court trial accusing 12 Romanians of plotting against the government with alleged contacts to the diplomats. The indictment warned a confessed defendant claimed the four promised to parachute arms and troops if conflict arose. The notes cited persona non grata as the basis for recall.

A C-47 transport crash landed on Greenland's southwest coast and was located with no apparent injuries aboard. Searching planes dropped emergency kits to the seven men believed aboard at Westover Field Massachusetts reported Friday night.
United States Attorney John F. X. McGahey demanded that the house committee on un American activities turn over the microfilm of secret state department documents to a federal grand jury in New York. The grand jury investigating Communist espionage adjourned for the weekend after hearing from witnesses including Henry Julian Wadleigh and William Ward Pigman.

The loss endangers Christmas release from hospital beds as records cannot be replaced in time. Charles A. Rhyne of Carolina Brace Manufacturing Co. disclosed the theft on Friday.
Rep. Rockwell of Colorado disclosed he married the divorced wife of his son in a civil ceremony on November 23 after losing re election. The 62 year old congressman did not reveal his bride's age. she once served as one of his Washington secretaries and divorced the son in April.
