Three Eastern Iowa anglers drown near Mississippi River dam
Three Eastern Iowa men died after their 20 foot flat bottom boat capsized in a restricted area near a lock and dam on the Mississippi River around 11 a.m. Witnesses pulled one survivor from the water. two others died at the scene and a third died at a Dubuque hospital. All were not wearing life jackets.

High speed chase ends in fatal crash near Riverside
A high speed pursuit in Iowa led to a head on crash on Highway 218 near Riverside. Brittany Miles 35 of Cedar Rapids died at the scene and Olivia Alvarez 27 of Cedar Rapids died later. The chase started in Muscatine after reports of gunfire. A Muscatine officer was injured in a separate crash. Miles had prior eluding and theft convictions and was habitually barred from driving through 2026.

North Liberty mother charged after children left home alone
Brittany Airhart, 29, was arrested after police say she left her 3 and 5 year old at home alone on November 11 in North Liberty. A fire started in the living room when a clothes basket by the fireplace was overturned. The building was evacuated and the children were taken to University of Iowa Hospitals. Airhart posted bond after a Monday appearance and was released on recognizance.
