Former Washington County District Court Judge Ira Morrison, 56, who pleaded guilty to extortion in a case involving Teal Septer Nichting, has appealed his five year prison term to the Iowa Supreme Court. Morrison posted a $5,000 bond and faces transfer to federal custody after processing. A decision is not expected for about a year as the high court may convene panels rather than full nine-justice consideration.
