Commission rejects Varley disqualification in rate case
Iowa Commerce Commission ruled Chairman Andrew Varley need not disqualify himself from Iowa Power and Light rate dispute. The panel dismissed a Des Moines protest by Dawn Phillips, asserting no bias. The decision delays, but confirms possible refunds if the increase is found excessive. A separate complaint by Caryle Harriman about disconnection was also dismissed for lack of jurisdiction. Iowa Power plans to begin collecting the higher rates on January 1 after a December hearing.
