The Civil Aeronautics Board finalizes routes for a Midwest local air service affecting Ozark and North Central Airlines. A permanent Chicago to Fort Dodge line via Rockford Dubuque and Waterloo will run with branches to Sioux City and Omaha. Sioux City and Chicago link via Des Moines Ottumwa Burlington and Peoria. Routes take effect February 16.
A $150 settlement ended a personal injury case before trial as the jury was discharged by Judge Floyd Philbrick. Vonda Crail sought $3,053 for injuries from a car motorcycle crash against Harry and Janet Kiesling. Corydon AP Larry Dueling 18 died in hospital early Wednesday from injuries after an auto crash Tuesday night. He was alone in a car that failed to turn on a gravel road two miles south of Corydon, son of Mr and Mrs Arthur Dueling of near Allerton. The report mentions bus collision near Rapids and multiple location district references in a chaotic legible fragment.
Rex Rohrer to Roy Gaddis testified a $25,000 down payment was paid by Gaddis to Miles. Dvorak testified the $25,000 minus about $3,500 in commissions has not reached him or partner Rohwer. Other witnesses claimed sums due from Miles of $9,200 $8,800 $8,700 and $3,749.
Two Eastern Iowa communities announced officer lists for their fire departments. Kaiona Chief C. C. Shimon and West Branch Chief M. W. Gibson lead as key officials, with officers including assistants, secretaries, captains, and trustees named for each department.

Washington cites improved Nationalist defenses and new weapons funded by the U S, while the 7th Fleet remains ready to redeploy if needed. Nationalist gunners respond to shells with 8 inch howitzers and 155 mm rifles as shelling eases but a heavy 90 minute bombardment occurs on a Tuesday.

U S military chapels in Tokyo ordered removal of a controversial pamphlet urging Americans not to marry foreigners.
