In Ventura California AP reports six year old Peter Orozco was rescued from a popcorn machine by firemen. The incident involved the boy becoming trapped and recovered with no further details provided.

Tyler Texas UP A student pilot W B Myers rode a wayward Aeronca 65 miles after being ejected during a practice landing. The engine died on approach as Myers was tossed from the cockpit and the plane flew on with no one at the controls. After a 2 hour 40 minute chase the craft landed in a farm field with minor damage while Myers suffered a sprained back.
In Buck Hill Falls Pennsylvania the Methodist church may end racial segregation as the woman’s division for Christian service recommends abolition of the segregated structure. Led by Mrs J D Bragg this key group of over 1.3 million Methodist women will present the proposal to the church general congress in Boston next April, challenging the separate Ne pes jurisdiction created in 1939.
United Mine Workers chief John L. Lewis told a Senate commerce subcommittee that oil shortages in parts of the country stem from a postwar shift from coal to oil for fuel after the 1946 mine strike.
