Tempers flare at Linn County Jail planning meeting
Tensions rose during a Linn County jail technical review committee gathering when Sheriff Donald Sawyer and supervisor Jean Oxley clashed after a member abstained. Dennis Blome, long-time committee member, was barred by Sawyer from attending as disputes over the May’s Island site persist. Blome recently helped push a bond for the project and was replaced as jail administrator the election day. Roy Roseberry attended as Blome’s successor and chaired the sheriff’s detective bureau.

Tipton Plans Snow Parking Rule Trial
The Tipton City Council on Monday night approved a trial snow parking system to aid street cleaning. From Nov. 15 to March 15, vehicles may park on alternate days between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. Odd and even address sides differ by day. ordinance will be drafted and considered next meeting, potentially with a waiver of three readings.
