118-Pound Woman Lifts Car To Save Child

Martha Weiss a 44 year old 118 pound San Diegan lifted the front end of a 4500 pound Cadillac to free an eight year old girl dragged under the vehicle near an elementary school. She described the moment as painful with evidence of tire and grease stains on her clothing. The child was treated and released from a hospital.

Iowa Electric to Refund 3.9 Million After Commission Plan

Iowa Commerce Commission approves Iowa Electric Light and Power refunds totaling 3.9 million tied to a rate increase from July 1976. About 195,650 customers will receive credits averaging 7.40 per bill with residential averages around 6.85 and farm customers about 16. Credits apply to service from July 1976 through April 19, 1979. The BTU adjustment yields a one time reduction next month, and refunds for over-collections bear 9 to 12 percent interest depending on timing. IE must locate former customers and honor valid claims discovered by audit and investigation.
