Two Men Appear in Court at Elkader

In Clayton county district court at Elkader on Friday Judge T. H. Nelson fined Victor Brierbach of Sherrill 145 dollars and costs for overweight on a truck axle after his June 19 arrest near Strawberry Point. Larry D. Bowers of rural Fayette, 22, received a deferred sentence and was paroled to the county sheriff on his guilty plea to drunk driving after an October 25 arrest near Strawberry Point.

Car Crash Leaves Cedar Rapids Man with Minor Injuries

Special to The Gazette Jerry Lee Kennett, 26, of 307 Thirtieth Street Drive SE, Cedar Rapids, suffered head and facial bruises when his car left a highway 101 curve four miles north of Vinton around 5 a.m. The vehicle rolled over and was a total loss. Kennett was treated by a Vinton doctor and released and was charged by the sheriff's office with failure to have his car under control.
