Wilson and Roosevelt Pupils Form Wide Club Programs

At Wilson high school 55 percent of 328 students belong to eleven clubs totaling 322 members with varied aims from science and libraries to athletics and drama. Roosevelt hosts fifteen clubs with 361 members including Sigma Omicron Nu and a debate group. officers are named for each club and most groups emphasize citizenship, leadership, and character.

Roosevelt G A A Reviews Pageant Highlights at Assembly

The Roosevelt Girls' Athletic Association presented a review of Physical Education Past Present and Future during a Thursday morning assembly. The show featured a seven-girl tumbling pyramid, Swedish gymnastics, folk dance, seasonal sport tableaux, and demonstrations in badminton ping pong deck tennis and basketball.

Roosevelt Teams Tie for Honors in Ninth Grade Soccer

The Roosevelt ninth grade girls soccer tournament ended in a tie for honors as Miss Lillian Beck and Miss Louise Brownell led their home room teams to the finals. Becks team defeated Nevah Prior’s squad to reach the final after the first game also ended in a draw. Members of Beck’s team included Mildred Burke captain and Irene Astroesky among others. Brownell’s lineup featured Margie Dice captain and Betty Ensign with several teammates.

Fillmore Kindergarten Creates Clay Fruit Market Display

Fillmore kindergarten students under teacher Miss Ruby Shereberger crafted a clay fruit and vegetable market. Synthetic produce includes grapes carrots apples pumpkins pears potatoes and peppers arranged in baskets with price tags. Students used paper money and sacks to simulate shopping while lattice decor and ornamental gourds accent the sunny classroom corner.

Senior High Girl Reserve Council Elects Officers

Jeanne Young of Franklin was elected president and Edith Reed of the Y's Players secretary of the senior high Girl Reserve inter club council on Wednesday. Projects include a news sheet the Girl Reserve Echo, an inter-club frolic in March, a mother-daughter banquet in May, and community service activities. McKinley and Roosevelt Girl Reserves presented a program at St. Paul's bazaar with several entertainers. Mrs J Hamilton Bell spoke on Modern Etiquette for the High School Girl.

Music book honors Franklin girl in Milwaukee dedication

Charlotte Ross Culbertson of Milwaukee dedicates a primary school music book to Frances McCormick an 11A pupil at Franklin high school. The book copies have been mailed nationwide and to China. Washington school pupils of Wauwatosa wrote the lyrics set to Culbertson's music.

Franklin To Give Goose Hangs High Next Saturday Night

The Goose Hangs High, a Broadway comedy, will be re enacted at Franklin auditorium by the senior class next Saturday at 8 p.m. The play centers on a mid western family during Christmas, with the younger generation’s indiscretions straining finances until Granny and the twins help resolve the crisis. The cast includes Robert Files, Margaret Threlkeld, Howard Bachman, John Hallerbaeck, Lorna Morningstar, Raymond Jiruska, Jessie Benson, Jane Bachman, Wilferene Kenecny, Joe Belehrad, Leo Day, Elliot Kimberley, Edith Boardman, and others. Directed by Miss Geraldine Green with production committees led by Norman Snouffer and Bob Hayden. staff adviser Russell Poppenhager. The senior high orchestra, conducted by Roland Moehlmann, provides interludes.

Field Trip Winners At Wilson High Biology Test

Five students earned the top grades in a 10B biology test at Wilson High School and were rewarded with a field trip to the Palisades. Participants included Ramona O'Brien, Howard Klekar, Grace McQuiston, Mae Korab, and Ernest Kubik guided by Miss Myra Willis.

McKinley Girls Create Menu Covers For Navy Dinners

The Hi Y Ett es of McKinley high school reproduced a design in larger form on 300 menu covers. The covers were sent to the U S S Medusa at San Pedro for navy men at holiday dinners. Elaine Healy designed the print and Jeanne Marshall cut the linoleum block.

Goose Hangs High Leads Cast for Senior Play

Robert Files and Margaret Threlkeld will portray the parents in the Franklin senior class domestic comedy The Goose Hangs High. The play is set for next Saturday night in the school auditorium.

The McKinley high school music departments present a concert in the school auditorium Tuesday at 8 p.m. The program features mixed chorus girls glee club orchestra band and an old fashioned group with a string quartet performing In Days of Yore. Proceeds go to the fund for band uniforms.

Indian Study at Harrison School Explores Sioux Iroquois Life

The 2A grade at Harrison school studies Indian life of long ago with focus on the Sioux and Iroquois. Students build a tepee to represent Sioux homes and craft natural dyes from walnut shells onion skins sumac leaves and red berries. Dyes were boiled strained and prepared for use.

Wilson Assembly Highlights Student Performers

Wilson senior high school hosted an assembly by the 12B home room on Thursday. Elwyn Newell announced acts including a piano solo by Rose Ann Kubovec a vocal solo by Evelyn Sigmund with Anna Lana on piano a chalk talk by Robert Martin and an impersonation by Charlotte Burlingham. The program also featured accordion pieces by Dick Hollister and a cornet trio of Robert Stastny Leroy Krejci and Thomas Stastny with accompaniment by Kubovec.
