Jules Rachman 38, an Omaha theater manager, fatally shot Harry Goldberg 42 and seriously wounded Sam Goldberg 48 in the amusement company's office amid a dispute he called a squeeze on his life savings. Rachman surrendered after saying he would shoot their heads off if crossed. The Goldbergs, pioneers in Omaha cinema since 1909, controlled many theaters before recent reductions. Sam is unmarried.
A proposed bill to legalize and license manufacture and sale of light wines and beers was defeated Friday at the South Dakota volunteer tax conference in Huron. The measure would have allowed sales if federal action returned.
New York report confirms Maxine Elliott Rickard widow of Tex Rickard has been married for over a year. She wed Frank Dailey, a millionaire ginger ale manufacturer, in early November 1931.

Transcript of testimony in the George Jessel divorce case shows Mrs. Florence Courtney Jessel understood she would get 75000 dollars. The exact terms were secret, but she testified that the agreement provided 25000 in cash and 50000 to be paid over time.

Berlin AP General Kurt von Schleicher, who calls himself a man without nerves, was commissioned by President Hindenburg to form a presidential cabinet. The 50 year old general faces a disunited nation, attempting a period of economic advance and social appeasement while courting nationalist, centrist, Bavarian and populist support in the 584 member Reichstag set to convene December 6. Hitler denounces the move, but Schleicher believes terms with the Nazis could delay the Reichstag for months as he upholds his stance against dictatorship by armed force.
Iowa City AP Ed Fitzpatrick supervisor elect of Johnson county died in a local hospital from pneumonia at age 54. The illness followed a punctured lung after an accidental fall while cutting trees on his farm south of Iowa City last Saturday. He is survived by a widow and eight children. Funeral services will be held Monday morning.
RENSSELAER Ind UP Mr and Mrs Hamlin H Smith received assurance Friday that their 4 year old kidnapped granddaughter Patricia Patty Tripp Smith is safe. A letter in the hands of Sheriff Tone Kanne of Jasper county said Patty is well taken care of and happy and that they will hear from us later.

Cedar Falls dispatch reports Dr. Homer H. Seerley 84 year old president emeritus of Iowa State Teachers College remained in critical condition after two weeks of illness. A stroke in January left him weakened and recently he grew more dangerous. His daughter Mrs Atherton B Clark of Cedar Rapids was at his bedside.
Thieves entered the Harvey Mane home at 1024 Second Street SE while the family was away Thursday evening and took 42 dollars from a cupboard. Police Kudina and Cunningham investigated. Loss included seven five dollar bills two one dollar bills and a five dollar check to Agnes Mannen from Sinclair Packing Co. A Watertown Wisconsin man reported car theft items also taken nearby.
