Iowa Child project may shift location in Coralville area
Coralville negotiates possible new sites for the Iowa Child project near the First Avenue exit off I 80 and along the Iowa River east of First Avenue. Project leader David Oman says location has been under discussion with a major September update anticipated detailing scope and cost changes.

Warehouse full of stolen goods tied to Cedar Rapids cases
Cedar Rapids police closed 33 cases across Linn Johnson and Buchanan counties after locating a warehouse of stolen tools and other property on July 5. Investigators traced items to 18 burglaries and thefts in Cedar Rapids and 15 in surrounding areas. seven search warrants were executed and about 26 500 dollars in property reported. six truckloads of scrap were recovered. One suspect Lee T Washburn faces first degree theft charges and is free pending arraignment September 5.

Iowa poverty rates stand at 9.5 percent in 1998 report
The Census Bureau release shows Iowa eighth among states for overall poverty at 9.5 percent, with 270 604 people in poverty. It also notes 13.8 percent under 18 and 16.2 percent of five and under in poverty, ranking Iowa 10th and 16th in these categories respectively.
