Linn County bids under estimate for new jail contract
Monday's bid opening for Linn County's Phase 1 jail project drew under estimate prices and strong female and minority participation. Larson and Unzeitig of Cedar Rapids bid 244 750 to drive pilings and foundation on May's Island with total 300 734 including sewer lift stations, well below the 303 311 architect estimate, and with 74 percent of receipts to a female firm Gibeaut Insurance Agency and 5.7 percent to minority firms Construction Associates Inc and B & B Engineering Services.
