Volunteers Build Low Cost Preschool Network in Cedar Rapids
In Cedar Rapids and Marion, about 300 children will attend seven free and low cost preschools this fall. A coalition of 75 volunteers, led by Mrs. Sedlacek and directed by Elizabeth Bender and others, operates across Central Park Presbyterian, St. Mark's Lutheran, Jane Wood Community House, and more. Classes begin in October with trained volunteers, aiming to boost language skills and self worth for four year olds who cannot afford private programs.
