Black and White exhibition at Mead Library of Ideas
A compact critique of the Black and White show at Pan-Am Building’s Mead Library of Ideas. The piece discusses 40Bold black and white designs from Print magazine editors, noting the commercial art origins, the wall display versus magazine pages, and the broader implications for fine art and social themes including race. It weighs the evolving relationship between commercial design and high art and reflects on how the works engage with polarizing visual relations. It questions the historical positioning of commercial art and the impact on artists like Rauschenberg and Ellsworth Kelly.
