Iowa hunting license decline hurts sales for pheasants
The Iowa DNR notes a long term fall in pheasant numbers has reduced hunting license sales. Deer turkey and waterfowl remain popular but pheasants once led hunting demand shrank from 168000 hunters in 2000 to 60000 by decade end. Factors include grassland conversion, harsh winters, lost access and urban population shift.
