Miami Police Link Ripper To 30 Slayings Across States

A suspect called Jack the Ripper is linked to at least 2 of 12 Miami area deaths and possibly up to 30 bodies across five states. Detectives note similar murders in California, Washington, Oregon, Utah and Idaho. Victims were usually white women under 30 found nude except for jewelry, drowned or strangled. Police warn the killer may be a drifter and fetishist, with no solid physical links yet.

Rockefeller Ends South Swing With Call for Budget Discipline

Vice-president Rockefeller wrapped a two day tour of the South urging states rights and fiscal restraint. In Columbia he said the federal government is too big and costly and vowed not to push for a Ford ticket in 1976. Governor Edwards noted a shift toward responsibility though he offered no commitments. Senator Thurmond and GOP leaders offered cautious praise amid mixed reactions to Rockefeller's stance.
