Iowa joins suit against parole in place immigration policy
Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird joined a Texas led lawsuit challenging the Biden administration parole in place plan for spouses and stepchildren of U.S. citizens. The policy would allow eligible undocumented spouses to apply for lawful permanent residence without leaving the United States, with work authorization during a three year path to permanent residency. The White House says it would promote family unity and bolster the economy, while Republicans call it amnesty. Bird argued Congress was bypassed and federal law violated.
