Fort Atkinson St John Nepomucene Church History
Fort Atkinson's St John Nepomucene Catholic church, built in 1873 by German and Bohemian settlers, faced early travel to Spillville or Festina for services. It saw multiple pastors, later enlargements, a small school with Milwaukee Sisters, a 1899 fire, and a succession of priests culminating with Rev Stephen Kucera as present pastor and eighth parish priest.

Talent Fund Helps Church Lift Mortgage
In Haddon Heights New Jersey Bethany Presbyterian uses a parable inspired fund to pay down its mortgage by letting members take small amounts from the offering plate. Adults give ten dollars teens five and children one. Early results show a thousand dollar bank loan paying dividends toward a 5090 mortgage. Members diversify with ventures from painting to honey and garden produce. The effort spreads to St James in Cedar Rapids where bread rolls produce income and a fair booth is funded by talents.
