Marion Aims to Replace Pools as City Plans Demolition
Marion advances pool demolitions at Bever Park and Noelridge Park to pave way for new facilities. Bids open September 4 with an estimated 70 000 cost funded from reserves until the tax and funds begin in January. The measure would raise about 15.7 million to replace three pools and renovate three others, with openings slated for next summer. Marion also adopts first thermal imaging system for firefighters funded by donations, enabling better smoke and wall searches. The city and Linn-Mar schools partner on Lowe Park improvements and fundraising, seeking grants of 150000 with 25000 local match and consulting from Dunbar Jones Partnership and Renaissance Group of Maxwell. James Lowe donation of 180 acres anchors the park north of Marion.
