Iowans Tour Iowa Firsts With Dr. Wiese in Southeast
A one day trip led by Dr. Herbert Wiese of Coe College showcases Iowa firsts in Van Buren and Lee counties. Highlights include the oldest Iowa courthouse in Keosauqua, Hangman’s Hollow, the Des Moines River area, Morris Memorial Park replica cabin, Hotel Manning, and the Verity paddle-wheeler. The tour notes the first Civil War sites, pioneer homes, and local heritage estates along the Des Moines River.
