Cedar Rapids physician Albert Coates bought a limited edition 1978 Indy pace car Corvette for 14000 to cash in as values rose. He rejected a 3000 offer and now finds the car stored and worth about 17000, far below the hoped 75000. Dealers report prices around 17000 to 29000, with the base Vette at 9400. Only 6500 Indy pace cars were made, each for a different dealer, and word of the model leaked before release.
