A 23 year old former patient testified in Johnson County District Court that a University of Iowa phlebotomist froze her and could not call for help as he fondled her in a hospital bed. Michael Ritz faces third degree sexual abuse charges and potential up to 10 years in prison.
Kevin Harris, 24, a material witness in a 2003 Cedar Rapids murder, was booked into Linn County Jail around 3 am. He faces a $72,000 bail and has other local charges including assault and domestic abuse. Police still seek details on the Jan 6 2003 homicide of Joseph Harris. Harris was arrested in Illinois and could be connected to the Weing Road NE fire scene.
Hiawatha police stopped the vehicle at Center Point and Blairs Ferry Road for an illegal turn. DEA lab team later found an active methamphetamine lab in the car’s trunk and back seat. Jodie Enos and Shannon Lochner were taken into custody on multiple drug charges and related offenses.
Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids urged teachers and counselors to monitor students' emotions as classes began days after the deaths of two recent graduates, Tyler Buelow and Grant Rutherford, 18, in a farm blast near Palo.
