Adams, Oakdale, former Linn county residents, on Aug. 21. Lieut. and Mrs. R. S. Wray of Nicholsfield Philippine Islands welcomed a son, David William, Aug. 21 at St. Luke's hospital.
Harry Miller Jr aged 73 died at 11 50 a m Saturday at his home 1810 Hamilton Street Southwest.
Funeral services for Reuben Plummer were conducted in Central City after his death at the Delaware county home. He was born in Central City in 1880, worked as a blacksmith, and lived in Clinton. Survivors include two sisters and two brothers. Frank Moore died at Oakdale sanatorium. arrangements are pending.
Mrs Dorothy Shelton won a court action in district court with Judge G K Thompson allowing a $500 attachment as she presents her divorce petition against Chester Lee She. She cites cruel and inhuman treatment and seeks custody of the couple's nine month old son. They were married in Iowa City on March 1 1940.
Frances Frazier was awarded a $200 attachment on household goods at the Frazier home located at 615 Avenue NE on Saturday by Judge G. K. Thompson after she filed for divorce from John Phil Frazier. She accuses cruel and inhuman treatment. The Fraziers were managed in Iowa City on February 14.
Fred C. Lane Jr., 37, of Ackley, reversed his earlier not guilty plea and pled guilty to a drunk driving count before Judge G. K. Thompson on Saturday, requesting immediate sentencing.

Harry Miller Sr 73 died suddenly at 11 50 am Saturday at home 1810 Hamilton St SW of a stroke. Born Pittsburgh Oct 31 1867 he moved to Cedar Rapids as a boy and lived here 60 years. He worked as shop foreman at Wilson and Co packing plant 46 years before retiring. Survived by widow Anna two daughters Mrs William J Baxter and Mrs Helen Vrbicek a son Harry Jr of Chicago a brother Frank L Miller eight grandchildren two great grandchildren. two sons preceded him. Body at Janeba funeral home awaiting funeral arrangements.

Education changes include new hires in Manchester Troy Mills South English Decorah and other towns, with staff additions in music English and vocational programs. Also reports of a crash near Death Curve, and local school openings and public notices across several towns.

Imperials and Greek guerrillas live in caves, harass supplies nightly, and sabotage coastal inlets. Cairo estimates at least 20,000 in action. Greek civilians in cities resist, with German troops firing on women who refused to let British prisoners be kept by guards.

L G Kimes 61 of 618 C Avenue NW was injured Friday at 8 10 pm after walking into a westbound car driven by John Myers 710 Second Avenue SW on First Street W He was taken to Mercy Hospital by Ambulance Service and released after treatment for a scalp wound and a cut on the right thigh.
The United Packing House workers L S U No 3 will hold its annual picnic at Riverside Sunday starting 10 a m. The event is for all paid up union members and their families and will feature a baseball game and other activities. Members must be stamped by a committee at the park for identification.
In Burlington Iowa two ordnance plant workers E A Mucha 45 and Ernest A Green 41 were held for questioning after nearly 5000 dollars in pay checks were stolen from a local tavern. Police found 4733 dollars in checks in Mucha’s glove compartment. the men deny any involvement. The checks issued by Guthrie Johnson company contractors were cashed by the tavern for construction workers.
One of seven Fort Dix escapees, Price Mature of Passaic, was found shot dead in woods near Browns Mills New Jersey. A vacationing patrolman, John McHugh of Lansdowne Pa, fired on him during the manhunt. The search for the remaining escapees continued.
