Will Rogers remembered by friend in 1935 tribute
In a personal reminiscence, John Harvey Fuarbey recalls Will Rogers’s career and character. The piece recounts Rogers’s humor, resilience, and recent death, noting his long partnership with Betty Rogers and the couple’s plans before the fatal accident.
Just Folks by Edgar A. Guest
The poem contrasts early success with later failure as Fortune deserts a once promising figure. It notes a twist of fate and the harsher second fight, and ends with a segue into a statistic about Illinois prisons showing less than 1 percent high school graduates.
