Man convicted of lesser charge in shootout
A Des Moines County jury found Timothy Chew guilty of assault with intent to inflict serious injury and going armed with intent after a May 10 Burlington shootout with A J Smith. He faced up to seven years, with sentencing set for Oct 16. had he been convicted of attempted murder he could have faced 25 years.
